Our team has reached out to our congressmen and senators urging them to support a pair of bills that would expand nurse practitioner’s legal ability to provide the best care for their patients. H.R. 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, will permanently authorize nurse practitioners and physician assistants to prescribe medication assisted treatments (MATs). Additionally, S. 3067, the Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act, would authorize nurse practitioners and physician assistants to certify a Medicare beneficiary’s need for therapeutic shoes, thus improving the timeliness and access to care while reducing costs.
